In my opinion, online dating sites are one of the
creepiest fads that have entered the dating scene. I don’t know why so
many people sign up with online dating sites and services.
I think that
the normal person tends to be less than honest when he or she is on the
computer or the Internet. These online sites even have pictures,
profiles and personality tests that are supposed to help you find your
perfect mate.
However, finding a lifetime partner is not that simple. A computer or the Internet does not allow a real connection between two persons. You have to see a potential partner in person and get to know that person on an intimate level before you could ever assume that the both of you are meant for each other. I suspect that online dating sites and services are only preying on the lonely. These sites are only trying to sell unrealistic expectations to people.
Picking potential dates by their picture works only for those who put a great deal of importance on physical appearance. You will find it hard to find a long-term mate if you put too much emphasis on the physical or surface qualities of a person.
It could be possible that online dating sites are really just pimping services for people who are looking for some action and people who are willing to give it. Some online sites claim that they are responsible for numerous marriages.
To be honest, I find this unbelievable. There’s a good chance that the brides and grooms have mistakenly assumed that they are a perfect match, if their marriage have resulted from participation in online dating sites.
Don’t think that online dating sites are your last resort, if you are lonely and the social scene does not work for you or has become stale in one way or another. I agree with the critics who say that dating sites on the Internet are dangerous.
People who buy into the idea of online dating sites often did not give it much thought. Of course, it is also possible that you have really found your match if you are one of the happy newlyweds brought together by an online dating service.
However, this is not the case for the vast majority of people dating online. Daters should think about these issues thoroughly before they devote their time, hearts, or money to these sites.
